The Imagine No Violence program, in partnership with the Fort Worth ISD, was initially kicked off with a Bass Hall event in November, 2001 where 1,200 high school students gathered, each having a delegation reporting on their concepts of “Imagining No Violence.”
The idea of students expressing themselves through art grew from student representative focus groups. In 2002, Safe City Fort Worth sponsored the first Imagine No Violence Art Contest and 4,000 students participated. The popularity of the program has grown—over 20,000 Fort Worth students now participate in the program annually.

The Imagine No Violence iPhone App
As part of its on-going multi-media efforts Safe City Commission has developed the Imagine No Violence iPhone application which features a gallery of over 100 outstanding pieces of artwork produced throughout the history of the program. The gallery will continue to grow as selections from each year’s contest are added. The application is available for free download in the iTunes store through Friday, April 9, 2010 and will be available for purchase for $2.99 thereafter.
Choosing the 2009-2010 Grand Prize Imagine No Violence Grand Prize Winners
The 2009-2010 Grand Prize winners will be chosen through voting on the Imagine No Violence iPhone app. Twenty finalists (ten each for the High School and Middle School Divisions) have been chosen by a special panel and have been uploaded to the app. Anyone who has downloaded the app can go to the “Contest” section and choose their favorite High School and Middle School pieces by clicking on the plus sign at the bottom of the screen. The winners will be announced at the Texas Rangers game on Saturday, April 10 and will be recognized during the Clint Black concert, presented by ImagineNoViolence.org following the Rangers game.
